Blog, Word, Year....

So, this year I've chosen to focus on a theme, a word really instead of making a "resolution". My one word this year is "Home". I've read first about the concept here. I've actually been following her blog for a while now, and started the new resolution concept last year. My word for last year was story. I tried on the new concept, and really love the idea of having a theme to focus on instead of the rote "lose 10 lbs" goal.

I want to really focus this year on "home" so, blogging about my thoughts, ideas, goals, etc.. will help me keep everything in one place regarding the theme. Questions I'll be asking and exploring this year will have to do with my word. What does Home mean? What makes a Home safe? How will I organize my Home? What does the word Home mean to my family? How will I keep my Home clean? Does Home mean a physical place? What kinds of concepts and ideas surround the idea Home?

This is not a word I really chose myself. I mean, I chose it, but I think the word really chose me. As I started the process of picking a word, I got frustrated with how messy my house had become. How cluttered my physical living space is and how I really don't put the time into it that is necessary to make it more like a home. So... out of that, was born my theme for the new year. Home. Frustration in this case is going to cause me to change an area where I am weak in. I am not a good home maker. I get frustrated when it comes to home design, organization, being home, etc... I don't feel safe here all the time and it has nothing to do with relationships, it just has to do with perspective and something inside me that I want to explore.

I've always wanted to be anywhere but at home. (even as a child) This idea and concept will help me formulate plans, goals, and find personal peace with my idea of home. I hope you (if I have readers) will join me in your own one word journey. Track me back to your blog.... I'd love to follow your journey this year as well (no matter the word.)
